When I was a child, my Dad insisted that I go to church and Sunday School regularly, but he never went. So I grew up with the attitude that "as long as I was under my Dad's authority, I had to obey. But when I was an adult, I didn't have to do that anymore. My attendance, although very regular, was meaningless. I'm sure there were things that I heard or saw that stuck with me, but I didn't learn a great deal. I was baptized at the age of seventeen, but not because of any conviction. It was just to get one of the deacons to leave me alone. I went forward and was dunked in the tub, but when I graduated from High School, I joined the Air Force, and had nothing more to do with the church until I was 39 years old. God finally got my attention, through the ministry of a Sunday television program on Bible prophecy, aided by the witness of a couple of friends. Their witness was so strong and the television evangelist was so convincing, that on the 16th of August 1976, I knelt and prayed to receive Christ into my life. Shortly after that, we moved to McChord AFB, and joined what turned out to be a very liberal church. We were there for three years before God finally led us out of that church, to a Bible church, where we really began to learn and to grow. I had been pursuing a degree in the Computer Sciences, but God has a way of changing our focus, and that's what He did with me. I dropped my studies in the Computer Sciences, and completed a degree in Biblical Studies at the age of 54. Since then, God has permitted me to serve Him in a number of ways. Praise Him, for He is good.
