Shelton Bible Church was founded in June of 2003, and affiliated with the IFCA, International in December of that same year.  We are committed to growing in the spirit, and in our knowledge of God's written Word.  We are also committed to reaching out into this community, to share the Gospel message with any who wish to receive it.  We don't consider ourselves to be better than anyone else--only forgiven by God Almighty, because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us.  He took our sins upon His shoulders, and went to the cross of Calvary, in order to make atonement for our sin, and to redeem us from our just punishment.  The Scriptures tell us that "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God", and "the wages of sin is death." In other words, none of us can measure up to the purity, and the holiness of God, so none of us are capable of saving ourselves.  Only God could make a perfect sacrifice for sin, and He did that in the person of Jesus Christ.  Now, through faith in that atoning death on the cross, by the grace of God, we can be restored to fellowship with Him.

We are an independent, autonomous church.  Our church government style is congregational rule, under the leadership of a multiplicity of elders.  The Pastor is one of the Elders of the church, and is co-equal to other Elders who may be recognized by the body of believers.  The Elders are responsible to guard and protect the flock of God.  They are to commit themselves to the spiritual oversight of the church, in the ministry of the Word, and prayer.  Issues brought before the Elders are to be considered, in the light of the Scriptures, and recommendations are then made to the congregation for their approval.
